01. The Challenge
Lexgen AI is a startup building a generative AI platform for legal and tax professionals—designed to simplify complex research by offering searchable, summarizable, and citation-traceable answers. As the company approached MVP stage, they were challenged by the need to integrate AI models into a secure, production-grade environment that adhered to the high standards of legal compliance and performance.
In addition, they needed a UX that was intuitive for lawyers but powerful enough to handle nested logic and jurisdictional depth. Because of the sensitive nature of legal data, data privacy, version control, and explainability were not just technical requirements but core features of trust.
02. The Solution
Our team joined Lexgen’s technical steering group to assist in architecting the backend for performance and modularity. We helped wrap their LLM-based engines into secure, API-driven services and built infrastructure to allow jurisdictional toggling and context caching for faster load times. On the front end, we delivered a minimal but powerful interface with intelligent query refinement, multi-result previews, and on-hover citation checks. A special focus was placed on GDPR compliance, with encrypted session handling, audit logs, and controlled document ingestion. We also built a lightweight admin portal to let non-technical users manage content modules and test AI behavior in sandboxed environments.
03. The Result
The Lexgen MVP launched to a closed group of legal analysts and tax researchers in the Netherlands. Within the first month, users reported 60–70% faster research completion times compared to manual lookups. The citation feature received standout praise, helping users quickly verify claims across legal databases. Lexgen is now preparing for commercial rollout, backed by a stable, secure, and scalable platform that balances AI innovation with legal precision. Feedback from beta users also led to several co-development opportunities with law firms—paving the way for industry-specific AI product extensions.
